Delete your account
Last updated 18 October 2026
Two ways, both permanent. Deletion is immediate — there is no grace period, no deactivated state, and no undo.
In the app (fastest)
Profile → Danger zone → Delete account. You confirm twice, and it is done before the screen closes. This works even if your account has been suspended.
Signed in but never got past the invite code? Tap Delete my sign-in on the invite-code screen. It removes the sign-in and anything Pelan stored for it.
By email
If you can't get into the app — lost phone, lost Google or Apple account — email support@pelan.app from the address you signed up with, with the subject "Delete my Pelan account". We do it within 30 days, usually the same week, and reply when it's done.
If you signed in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, your account's address is a private relay address, not your own. Send your request from the Apple ID email you used, and include the name shown on your Pelan profile; we may ask you to confirm from inside the app before we delete.
We only need the email address on the account. Don't send anything else.
What gets deleted
| Your account | Name, email, profile photo, and the sign-in itself — the Google or Apple connection is removed at our identity provider too, not just in our database. |
|---|---|
| Trips you own | Deleted entirely, for everyone on them — itinerary, chat, expenses and settlements included. A trip with no owner is data nobody can manage, so it is not left behind. If a trip should outlive you, leave it before you delete: Travelers → Leave trip hands it to the traveller who joined after you. |
| Trips you joined | Your membership, your chat messages, the expenses you paid or entered, and any settlements you were party to. |
| Your uploads | Booking screenshots, receipt photos and your profile picture are deleted from storage, along with any upload never attached to anything. |
| Passport | The places worked out for you, the stamps you claimed, and your tickets. |
| Invites | Your unused invite codes stop working, and your invite records are removed — invitations you sent and invitations sent to your email. If you were on the waitlist, that entry goes too. |
| Notifications | Every push token registered to your devices, the history of notifications sent to you, and your notification settings. |
| Safety | The people you blocked, the reports you made, reports made about you, and the counters used to stop code guessing and spam. |
| Chat summaries | On trips you joined, the AI-written summary of older messages is cleared, so your words don't live on inside it. |
| Feedback | Feedback you sent from the app. Copies already emailed to support stay in that inbox until we delete them on request. |
What stays
Other people's content in trips you did not own. Their messages, their expenses, and the trip itself remain — they belong to the people who wrote them, the same way an email you received stays in your inbox when the sender closes their account.
Elsewhere, briefly. We keep no separate archive of deleted accounts and take no scheduled backups; a backup made before maintenance is deleted within 7 days. Server logs, which contain no trip content, roll off on their own within 30 days. AI providers delete what they were sent within about 30 days (longer only if it was flagged for abuse). Usage and crash data at PostHog is tied to a random account id, not your name or email, and expires after one year — ask us and we delete it straight away.
Before you go
If money is still outstanding on a trip, settle it first — deleting your account removes the expenses you entered, which changes what everyone else's balances say.
